Talk therapy and anxiety

If the anxiety you are experiencing is persistent or overwhelming, therapy may be beneficial. New Leaf Hypnotherapy & Counselling offers a unique blend of hypnotherapy, counselling, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest types of therapy available, while CBT is one of the newest. Together, this blend of therapies provides an effective tool to dial down anxiety. Talk therapy offers a safe, confidential space to explore the roots of your anxiety and provides a variety of ways to identify and resolve challenging feelings and behaviours. CBT is used effectively to challenge entrenched beliefs or behaviour patterns, and delivers positive alternatives to current ways of thinking and behaving (Thomas, 2021).

Did you know that hypnotherapy is actually a form of mindfulness? To go into hypnosis, your attention is drawn to a singular focus such as your breathing, progressively relaxing your muscles, or imagining relaxing scenarios. Once in a deeply relaxed state, your subconscious mind becomes receptive to suggestions from your therapist to change unhelpful patterns of behaviour and negative thoughts. Hypnotherapy works especially well for people experiencing anxiety, as it acts to rebalance the emotions with the deep relaxation it provides. In a relaxed state, you can effectively absorb statements that will lead you to make calm and rational decisions in your life. Following the session, you are provided with a recording of your hypnosis. You can continue to receive the benefits long after the session has been completed by listening to this recording regularly and it will act to reinforce the concepts included in the therapy session.
